I am a researcher interested in general areas — Information Retrieval, large-scale stream data analysis, Pattern discovery and modeling, etc.

1. This blog is a mash-up of what I am learning (round-ups), reading as well as my  personal life.  I want it to be something that can push me to think clearly and reflect.

3. 关于兴趣 — 到底因为你有有兴趣才能把一件事情做好，还是你把一件事情做好了才有兴趣。这个有点像是chicken–egg的问题，但我更愿意相信是后者–李笑来的观点。 如果一件事情一定要做，就努力做好；如果想放弃，不妨做好了再放弃。

Where does the so-called interest come from?  Does it stem from your blood or your ability to do-it-well? I think this is a kind of chicken-egg problem. Do not ever bother to find the answer.

So how can we cultivate our interest? For yourself, insist on until you can do it well, at least comparatively.  For the other people, try to praise or teach them, and make them fell he/she really has the potential.

4. 付出和回报的曲线关系– 你不可能永远保持高效率，在low point的时候要慎重选择放弃。Low Point的时候也是你开始慢慢丧失兴趣的时候，要想清楚，不要给自己接口放弃。

5. 去做才是做好的方法，在不能坚持做之前谈方法只是扯淡；能坚持做，哪怕是最笨的方法也能会终有所成。

6.  珍爱生命，尽量远离互联网

8. I despise Baidu.  Please use Google or Bing more in order make Baidu better, less immoral.

9. 别以节约时间作为借口浪费时间。 e.g. 1) read English paper时，似懂非懂的单词、句子花点时间搞定，这不是浪费时间，因为你还会不止一次遇到。学会精读现在个人感觉也很重要， 2）别吃饭别做无聊的事，吃完饭你一定还会出于无聊的状态；拿点时间认真做无聊的事，也许你更开心说不定还能学点东西。

10. 民主其实也是一种纠错机制和追究机制，试想错了不需要改、犯法了没人能追究你会怎么样。没有民主只会暗无天日。
